Beautiful Island worth a visit if you are in Lisbon área. Berlengas with ferry transport from Peniche to Berlengas Island included. The Berlenga Island is about 7 miles from the Peniche Port; it is 1500 meters long and 800 meters wide is a nesting spot for some species of ocean birds, and a passing point for several migratory species. The Berlenga Nature Reserve has been classified by the Council of Europe as a "Biosphere Reserve". Built on a rock adjacent to the Berlenga island and connected to it by a small bridge, there stands the Forte de São João Baptista, a Manueline military fortress built in 1502. The island’s tiny beaches with their clear blue sea are very beautiful and ideal for swimming and diving. For Lunch, there is a restaurant on the island. You will have many activities to do in the Island as your choice, like kayak, caves visit or a ride on a glass boat.
